How can i start up a modeling portfolio? How much will this cost?

I am looking to start modeling and i really need help finding a way to start up a port folio. I'm 16 and i want either magazine ads or swimsuit shoots. Please help in any way you can.

1. Join an agency first. Elite, Ford, IMG are all national agencies, and reputable. They will help you get a portfolio started.
2. You need a comp card. Get it professionally done and look at agencies. Don't get caught up in pay a bunch of money scams. Go to a good photographer. Your comp card is your resume or business card even. Remember the industry is hard work do be ready to work.
3. My husband is a photographer and he has done tons of portfolios specially for european models. He does this as a part time job, since he is a webdesigner full time, so he charges less then model agencies. He charges for a standart portfolio, which includes touch ups in the pictures (such as making you thinner, better skin etc) $800.
4. The best thing to do is get a series of photos, that you can then use is to create a portfolio, that you present to modeling agencies, TV jobs, catalog work, ad work, modeling & clothes lines. How much it costs will be answered by the photographer you hire.
